Success can be measured in countless ways. Most commonly, we look at how much money we earn and the job title we hold. I would like to challenge you to open your mind and rethink what it truly means to be successful.
We are taught to measure success as a 50- 50 split between salary and job title. What if I tell you there is a better measure of being truly successful in your life? The four largest pieces of the pie are What you do with your free time, liking what you do, your physical health, and your overall mental health. The smallest portion of the picture should be your title and salary.
You should try to do things that make you happy with your free time. Whether that means being present in your family’s lives, giving back to charities, or pursuing a hobby, joy should not be pushed to the backburner.
Liking what you do is self-explanatory. You should feel like you have never worked a day in your life. If you mumble and groan about having to go to work, it may be a good time to reevaluate your job.

Your physical health should be a priority. Even a simple activity such as taking a walk has the ability to boost your immune system and your overall health. You do not have to go to the gym and work out for hours to see physical benefits.
Mental health is a little trickier when it comes to exercising your brain. Something as straightforward as a crossword, word search, game, or just engaging with others can challenge you.
One of the most profound things that I have seen in my career is when people leave this world prematurely. The one thing they always ask for is time. Time with their family, time with their friends, but they have never said “Gee, I really wish I had more money or worked more.”
